Bright and early (or at least it seemed bright and early to those of us out late the night before… hey, what happens in NYFW stays in NYFW), I excitedly headed out to the Skylight at Moynihan Station to take in the Yigal Azrouël Spring/Summer ’16 show.
It seemed a fitting way (in a sense) for one to begin the morning of September 11th. Because as all things during New York Fashion Week, I was here to celebrate the new and the fresh. And in the case of Yigal Azrouël: the quite lovely.
Modern feminine edge collided with timeless elegance in the renowned designer’s delicately strong Spring ’16 collection. Juxtaposing silk charmeuse and sheer chiffon with a few motorcycle jackets beautifully captured a romantic vision. Floral motifs and abstract prints abound – along with stunningly hand-crafted embroidery and intricate details (like scalloped edging and jabot necklines). Lovely, ladylike and elegant – celebrating a woman’s sensuality.
DJ Mimi Xu kept the music soft and romantic, almost like a fairytale as models strutted down the runway in Carrie Bradshaw-approved Manolo Blahnik’s. James Pecis (@ D+V Management for Paul Mitchell) kept hair styled sleekly in low, pared back ponytails, ensuring the emphasis remain on the clothes themselves. Benjamin Puckey (@ D+V Management for Sephora) kept makeup dewy and natural. Other credit shout-outs include Styling by Tony Irvine (@ Management & Artists), Presenter Covet Fashion and Production Agency Navia Vision.
